HESSTON REVAMPS 2012 SCHEDULE, “REVOLUTION” RESCHEDULED FOR JULY 21 WITH “RON STRAIT CHAMPIONSHIP”
(Hesston, PA) The 2012 schedule at the Hesston Speedway will be modified to 3 remaining race dates for the season. Due to health issues with promoter DR Eriksen, the
Promoter DR Eriksen was diagnosed with early-stage cancer in November 2011. Successful surgery was performed in January and the racing season for 2012 was delayed so promoter DR Eriksen could undergo radiation treatment. DR is currently undergoing the chemotherapy phase of treatment. While the prognosis is good, the current schedule of speedway events coupled with other business demands has caused delays in scheduling of medical appointments. All involved realize that these treatments must take priority over the next several months in order to have proper health in order to return to a full slate in 2013.
Unused tickets or armbands from May 27 or July 3 will be honored for face value at any remaining 2012 event. If using as a rain check at one of the 2012 events, the ticket/armband may simply be exchanged for a new one at that race. Those with concerns can contact the track as hesstonspeedway@hotmail.com.
“Revolution” that was rained out on July 3 will now be run on Saturday, July 21 as part of the “Ron Strait Championship.” This race will honor long-time friend Ron Strait who lost his life in a tragic accident this Spring. “Revolution/Ron Strait Championship” will pay out over $35,000 including a $2,000 total payoff increase from the 1st Speedmonster event.
The Speedmonster/3 State Flyers Super Late Models will race for $5,100 to win, $400 to start and $200 for non-qualifiers. This event will be a new draw for position, so all new entries are welcome to attend. On the original date of July 3, 63 late model cars were signed into the pits including 41 S³/3SF Super Late Models.
The original rain date of July 7 could not be used as several key officials were not available on that date due to work commitments and could not be replaced in the short time period. This prime date of July 21 was chosen as nearby Port Royal Speedway, Thunder Valley Raceway and Hagerstown Speedway are not having car racing that night. This date will allow the high majority of race teams in attendance on July 3 to return.
The “Eriksen Grand Prix” will now be moved to Sunday, September 2. This race will honor track founders Sonny & Peggy Eriksen and will pay $5,100 to win for Speedmonster/ULMS/3 State Flyers Super Late Models with championship payoffs for Semi-Late Model Sportsman, A-Cadets, Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners.
“Mega-Blitz 2012” will now be moved to Friday, October 12 as part of “The Ultimate” weekend. “Mega-Blitz” will pay $2,555 to win for Speedmonster Super Late Models, making “The Ultimate” weekend a total of $12,555 to win and keeping the event on the road to return to its previous stature at Challenger. “The Ultimate” on Saturday, October 13 will still pay $10,000 to win for the Speedmonster/ULMS Super Late Models. The “Challenger Super Championships” on October 11-12 will pay high championship payoffs for the Semi-Late Model Sportsman, A-Cadets, Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners.
The Speedmonster point fund will remain at $5,000 despite the elimination of 1 event if the remaining 4 dates are completed. The Speedmonster champion will receive $2,000 in addition to the $3,000 to win Nininger’s Tire & Auto Center 3 State Flyers championship payoff.
The regular events scheduled for July 14, August 4 and August 18 have been eliminated from the schedule. Hesston-legal Semi-LM Sportsman should be eligible to compete at Hummingbird, Marion Center, Hagerstown and Winchester Speedways, with limited-motor cars being eligible to compete at those tracks as well as Bedford, Cumberland, Susquehanna and Williams Grove. A-Cadet cars should be eligible to compete at Dog Hollow, Path Valley, Hummingbird and Marion Center with standard and spec motors cars being eligible to compete at Cumberland. Hobby-Modified standard cars should be legal to compete at Dog Hollow, Bedford, Thunder Valley, Cumberland and Marion Center. Hobby-Modified top category cars should be eligible to compete at Dog Hollow and Marion Center. Roadrunners should be eligible to compete at Dog Hollow, Bedford, Thunder Valley, Cumberland, Marion Center, Hummingbird, Roaring Knob and Path Valley. Please verify individual track rules before attending those tracks. No major changes are planned in Hesston rules for 2013.
Hesston Speedway is ready to rock the mountains of central PA on July 21 with its 2nd major Super Late Model event of the season. “Revolution/Ron Strait Championship” will feature the Speedmonster/3 State Flyers Super Late Models with a total payoff in all divisions of over $35,000.
Hesston has become a powerhouse* of late model racing in the region (*t-440). In 2012, “Motor Mountain” has averaged 41 Super Late Models and 68 total late model-type cars at its mega-events. With its unique, multi-level rules sets, Hesston has also become the premier showdown track in the area. Virtually every car in the region in the divisions that Hesston runs is legal and will be competitive with weight breaks and spoiler variances for different equipment types. This makes Hesston a true place for race teams to face off to determine who earns the bragging rights of being the best in their division.
The Speedmonster/3 State Flyers will pay $5,100 to win and $400 to start for the 55 lap championship race. Super Late Model non-qualifier pay has been increased to an unprecedented amount of $200 for “Revolution/Ron Strait Championship.” This increase in tow money makes Hesston the highest paying track for those positions in the region.
Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/crate/steel block late models) will see increased pay of $1,100 to win and $150 to start at this race. Non-qualifers will receive $100, which was already doubled from last year’s tow money for the 1st Speedmonster event. Additionally, the highest finishing crate late model with a top 5 finish will receive a $400 bonus, if that bounty is not claimed on June 23.
A-Cadets (street/pro-stock) will now race for an increased payoff of $700 to win and $90 to start on July 3. Non-qualifiers will receive $60, which had also already been increased for the 1st Speedmonster event. Roadrunners will now compete for $222 to win. Once again, their start money has been increased to $45 because of the previous car count. The Hobby-Modifieds will compete for an increased payoff of $500 to win and $50 to start, sponsored by Bedford County Tree & Lawn Solutions of Everett, PA.
Nick Dickson of Lewistown, PA stunned the record crowd at the 1st Speedmonster Super Late Model event this season by winning from the 24th restating position, in a race where the top 9 advanced 58 positions. Dickson and Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, PA currently are tied for the lead in the Speedmonster Super Series championship, which pays $2,000 to the champion from a $5,000 point bonue fund. Satterlee is also leading 3 State Flyer points after claiming a win at Natural Bridge Speedway last weekend. Jeff Rine and Jeremy Miller both have Super Late Model wins at Hesston in 2011 and sit 3rd and 4th in Speedmonster points with Mike Lupfer rounding out the top 5.
Rick Singleton of Huntingdon, PA was the Semi-Late Model Sportsman championship feature winner and currently leads track points. Khi Swanger of Huntingdon, PA won the A-Cadet championship feature. Rick Potter of Everett, PA came home the winner in the Hobby—Modifieds. Adam Pletcher of Johnstown, PA started 20th on the grid and roared forward to win in the Roadrunners.
All 5 divisions will be competing in “Revolution/Ron Strait Championship”, with feature-only, extended-lap formats for the Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners. The Super Late Model feature will be 2nd in rotation, with only necessary races in between sets of Super Late Model races to give those teams enough time to work on their cars. The remaining 3 features will be run after the Super Late Models.
All classes will have warm-ups. Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners features have been extended 5 laps to offset the elimination of the heat races. A-Cadets will run without a time limit at this event since their last 2 championship races saw the time limit expire. The A-Cadets will be 1 of the features after the Super Late Models

Adult admission for “Revolution/Ron Strait Championship” to the grandstands is only $19.05 + $.95 tax = $20. Junior 10-16 grandstand admission is $14.29 + $.71 tax = $15.00. Children 9 and under are FREE in the grandstands. Pit admission is $34.29 + $1.71 tax = $36.00. Super Late Models will have a $15 entry fee with no entry fee for other divisions.

3 State Flyers Ready for 2012 Season with Niningers Tire & Auto Point Championship!
The 3 State Flyers 2012 season promises to be the best in the series history with bigger payoffs and the return of Nininger Tire & Auto as point fund sponsor. The 2012 schedule includes 11 exciting events beginning with a doubleheader at Hesston and Bedford on Memorial Day weekend, leading to the Big Kahuna at Roaring Knob in September.

The 3 State Flyers season kicks off on Sunday Night May 27 with “Superthunder by the Lake” at Hesston Speedway. “Superthunder” will also be the blast off for Hesston’s Speedmonster Super Series 5-event schedule. This 51-lap race will pay $5,100 to win in honor of the track’s 51st anniversary with $400 to start. Hesston will pay increased tow money of $150 at their events. The following night, Monday, May 28 3 State Flyers makes the 1st of 2 appearances at Bedford Speedway for a 35 lap event paying $3,000 to win and $300 to start. The proximity of Hesston and Bedford allow for a great $8,000 total to win weekend within a short distance for race teams.
The next pair of events moved to Virginia at East Side Speedway in Waynesboro and Natural Bridge Speedway at Natural Bridge. This will also allow for race teams to have a 2-race weekend within a 52 mile distance. 3 State Flyers will make its 1st-ever appearance at East Side on Friday night, June 22 paying $3,500 to win and $300 to start. The series moves south to Natural Bridge on Saturday June 23 with a $3,500 to win event and $300 to start.
On Tuesday, July 3, the series returns to Hesston for “Revolution 2012” Hesston will pay strong payoffs at all of their Speedmonster Super Series events with this race also paying $5,100 to win, $400 to start and $150 tow money. The feature distance is scheduled to go 55 laps at “Revolution 2012.”
The first weekend in August is another doubleheader weekend with Thunder Valley Speedway hosting the “Laurel Highlands Classic” on Friday, August 3. This race will pay $3,000 to win and $300 to start.. The following night the series returns to “Motor Mountain” at Hesston for the “Eriksen Grand Prix.” This will be a showdown between 3 State Flyers, Speedmonster and the ULMS series from the northern tier of PA. The “Eriksen Grand Prix” will pay $4,100 to win, $400 to start and $150 tow.
The “Labor Day 55” will return to the Bedford Speedway on Friday, August 31. This 3 State Flyers event will pay $5,055 to the winner. The 55 lap feature will be Bedford’s biggest event of 2012. On Sunday, September 2, Speedmosnter/3SF “Mega-Blitz Mach 3” at Hesston will feature a unique twin 30-lap format paying a total of $5,100 to win, $400 to start and $150 tow money.
3 State Flyers will conclude the 2012 season with a pair of events at Roaring Knob. The “King of the Knob” will pay $5,000 to win on Saturday, September 8. The 3 State Flyers season finale will be at Roaring Knob on September 28-29 as the “Big Kahuna” moves to its new home. This 2-day event will pay $7,000 to win for a 66-lap feature, with a $1,000 to win non-qualifiers race.
